Longcroft success in Innovate UK competition
Longcroft Engineering has been successful in a competition organised by Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) of Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency in conjunction with the Department for International Development to develop a solar powered irrigation pump. The pump will be developed in collaboration with a team from the Turbocharger Research Institute, University of Huddersfield, led by Professor John Allport and is based on an invention patented by the former chairman of Longcroft Engineering, Dennis Carey.
£47,000 funding has been awarded to Longcroft, which will enable the company to investigate the technical feasibility of the solar pump. On successful completion of phase one of the project, Longcroft will be eligible to enter phase 2 of the competition, for which further Innovate UK funding is available to develop and test prototypes with a view to full commercial implementation.
